Pokémon Go's Max Finale event will see Eternatus make its global debut
Several other Gigantamax Pokémon will also come to play

- The Pokémon Go Fest 2025: Max Finale will take place on August 23rd and 24th
- It will mark the global debut of Eternatus
- There's also a free Timed Research you can snag to encounter a Gigantamax Galarian starter
Earlier today, Iwan covered that Rookidee will feature during August's Community Day. Now, we're back with some even bigger (both literally and figuratively) news. On August 23rd and 24th, the previously promised Pokémon Go Fest 2025: Max Finale will take place.
I'll get to what that means in a second, but it's best to start with the headline feature of this particular event. Pokémon Sword and Shield legendary, Eternatus, will appear globally for the first time, giving everyone the chance to add the Gigantic Pokémon to their collection.
Okay, that was quick. Now, back to the event itself. On August 23rd and 24th, a series of Gigantamax Pokémon will appear one after another, bringing one of the biggest challenges to Go to date. As for which Gigantamax variants will appear in Max Raids, you can expect Toxtricity, Butterfree, Snorlax, Gengar and Lapras.

They're kind of a big deal
There's also a Pokémon Go Promo code available for everyone, too. By entering GOFESTMAX before August 3rd, you can unlock a Timed Research that culminates in an encounter with one of three Gigantamax Pokémon, and you can decide which! Your options are Cinderace, Rillaboom, and Inteleon. Of course, that actually means there's an illusion of choice because you're picking Rillaboom, right? Just be sure to complete it before August 24th or you'll miss out. It's been a good year for Pokémon Go so far, with Niantic remaining true to their promise of getting people out and about. Our own Jupiter Hadley has regularly attended in-person events, such as the Road Trip, City Safari: Milan and Go: Fest Paris. Check out her thoughts if you've ever considered tagging along to one.
Pokémon Go is available now on the App Store and Google Play, where it's free-to-play with in-app purchases. You can download it for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
