Most of the time, Pokémon Presents does exactly that. It tells us what to expect in the main series and its various spin-offs. Then we wait varying amounts of time. Which is fine, it's good to have something to look forward to. But today, something a little different happened. Pokémon Friends was announced and promptly released for iOS and Android.
Yep, you read that right. You can play it right now. The question is, should you? Well, I'd say that depends on how much you like Pokémon (obviously) and whether or not you have a penchant for puzzlers. If you tick both of those boxes, then it's probably worth trying out.
There are over 1200 of them waiting to be solved, apparently ranging from something you can figure out fairly quickly to those head-scratching conundrums that take far longer than most of us are ever willing to admit. The aim doesn't appear to be to barrel through all of them at pace, however, given the presence of a daily stamp system.
A plush, puzzling experience
Instead, you're supposed to hop in, channel your inner Dr Kawashima for a bit, then spend time with your Poké Pals. Although it's worth pointing out that you're not collecting real Pokémon. No, these are knitted creations, with yarn to make them being earned from solving puzzles. Once your plushies are made, you can put them on display across your virtual abode.You won't have an empty apartment entirely filled with woollen Wooloo or Merino Mareep, though. You can also decorate your place with furniture and wallpaper, so you don't have to worry about looking like you've raided a Build-a-Bear and stashed your haul in an empty warehouse.
