Starship Warbeasts brings JRPG-style battles to card combat in 2026
  • Sci-fi card battler with JRPG-style combat
  • Teams of five Warbeasts can level up mid-battle using cards and strategy
  • Over 75 million combinations possible at launch

New studio Deploy Starship is entering the fray with its first game, Starship Warbeasts, a cross-platform sci-fi card battler launching in 2026. While it draws obvious inspiration from heavyweights like Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone, this one doesn’t just play out on a board.

Instead, battles in Starship Warbeasts unfold with JRPG-style mechanics, complete with levelling, special skills, and mid-fight upgrades. You’ll build squads using Warbeast cards, each representing a creature from one of ten planets.

These aren’t just passive stats, as each Warbeast can grow stronger during battle through level-up cards, unlocking new powers in the middle of a match. Combined with spells, items, and the ability to influence fights in real time, the focus here is on creating both dynamic gameplay and deep strategic potential.

With 75 million+ Warbeast combinations already possible at launch, team building isn’t going to be a throwaway menu click. Deploy Starship says it’s aiming for a strong balance between preparation and adaptability, rewarding clever setups and skilful, reactive play.

While the multiplayer focus remains front and centre, there’s also mention of a future story campaign exploring planetary conflicts and cosmic threats, brought to life through seasonal events. So, if you're into narrative-driven adventures, you may have to hold out for just a little longer.
