City of water (and that one running man advert)

- Metro Quester Osaka, the sequel to the mobile JRPG, is now available for pre-registration
- It's produced by artist Kazushi Hagiwara and designer Hironori Kato
- Experience 32 different characters, eight classes and a swathe of combos and customisable weapons
With the release of Metro Quester, publisher Kemco brought another indie JRPG hit to the West with Kazushi Hagiwara and Hironori Kato's standout take on a post-apocalyptic dungeon crawler. Now, the series' sequel Metro Quester Osaka is also set to arrive on iOS and Android later this month, with pre-registration now open.
Metro Quester Osaka is set in a post-apocalyptic, futuristic world now set in the familiar Japanese city of Osaka. It offers plenty of throwbacks to the 1980s with its CRT-style interface and general aesthetic, although with plenty in the way of modern sensibilities and considerations.
Metro Quester Osaka will also feature 32 characters, eight classes, a variety of combo skills, customisable weapons and plenty of features such as New Game+ for the JRPG fanatics out there to enjoy.

Enter the Osaka
While some fans may be put off by the very minimal interface here (there's not even an animated battleground), there is plenty in the way of great character art, with each having distinct designs and professional-level art that makes them stand out. The more gritty hack 'n' slash design atmosphere will also likely tempt those of you who might otherwise turn away from JRPGs for being a bit too cartoonish.Nonetheless, Kemco has made it their business to bring cult hits to the West. So while I can't see MQO finding a massive audience, I've no doubt that it'll find a dedicated and passionate one that enjoys the combination of 80s-style gameplay and hi-def artwork to enjoy.
