Riftbusters is an upcoming looter shooter from Finnish developer Phantom Gamelabs
Who you gonna call? Gho... Oh, wait.

- Riftbusters will arrive for iOS and Android on September 3rd
- It promises to be an accessible entry point to the looter shooter genre
- With a lovely cartoonish art style, this could be one to watch
Finnish developer Phantom Gamelabs has announced that its action RPG, Riftbusters, will launch globally for iOS and Android on September 3rd, with pre-registration open now. Having previously been available in open beta last year, there's already some buzz for this one.
And it's not overly difficult to understand why. Looter shooters are big business for a reason. The constant search for better weapons and gear certainly strikes a chord with many people. Sometimes you might only improve your build by a small percentage, but it brings a sense of satisfaction nonetheless.
If that's your jam, you'll find that here in a bite-sized form. Rather than create a fully-fledged experience, Phantom Gamelabs promises a more accessible approach to the genre, presumably cutting out some of the granular details it's known for. For some, that might be a bad thing. But I'd argue that not having to get bogged down in as many details makes it an appealing entry point, especially on mobile, where you might only want to play a few missions here and there.

Mo.co: Rising
Aside from the somewhat vague term that is 'accessible', everything else here is what you'd expect. You'll charge into battle with other players, working together to take down numerous alien beasties using your various weapons and skills. Outside of that, you can expect to upgrade your arsenal, unlock new abilities and then tweak your preferred build. As you can see from the trailer above, it sports that cartoony borderline Fortnite-lite aesthetic that's fairly popular at the moment. Likewise, I'm getting more than a few Mo.Co vibes from it, which also falls into a similar domain. So. Riftbusters won't be short on competition, particularly with Destiny: Rising just around the corner.
Riftbusters will launch globally on the App Store and Google Play on September 3rd. If interested, you can pre-register for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
