A Cyberpunk twist for the ARPG

Torchlight: Infinite's Outlaw season arrives today, challenging you to take down Tower Co.
  • Torchlight: Infinite's Outlaw season sees you taking on a fiendish mega corporation
  • It also introduces a new Hero Trait: Rosa - Unsullied Blade
  • There are also overhauls to various systems

Having recently been teased during the amusingly named TorchCon, Torchlight: Infinite's Outlaw season has now arrived, promising to shake things up a fair bit by introducing a risk-versus-reward system and the ability to diversify your builds more than ever before. Oh, and there's a new Hero Trait and seasonal mechanic, too.

We'll start there because it makes it immediately clear where the Outlaw naming convention comes from. Throughout the season, you'll try to take down the (presumably) evil Tower Co. Doing so means finding their transport, cracking into supply cases, and, because this is a video game, fighting off wave after wave of enemies.

Successfully messing with the mega corp will see your Crime Rating increase, gaining you access to Black Market Bounties and side objectives that offer big rewards. Alongside that, you can trade in your hard-earned Tower Coins for a chance to raid the Central Vault. Just be aware that your meddling might attract the attention of a powerful boss.

Apparently, crime sometimes pays

Outside of raiding the rich, the latest season introduces a new Hero Trait, Rosa – Unsullied Blade. Fans of battle mages, take note. This melee build scales off mana and sees Rosa using the Realm of Mercury mechanic to blend single-target and AoE damage together.

If that's not your cup of tea, perhaps the changes to the Focus Skills System will be of interest? The Imbue system is now in Focus Skills. With it, powerful attacks will become charged by certain things, like critical strikes or landing CC. It sounds like there's plenty to tinker with here, with five different Focus Skills opening up your options.

The Outlaw season might as well be called Overhaul, as there's more of that going on... Ahem, the Talent System has also been revamped, with more core talents than before and fewer restrictions. Now you don't have to worry about any primary or secondary gubbins. Think of the build freedom you'll now have in Torchlight: Infinite!

Torchlight: Infinite is available on the App Store and Google Play, where it's free-to-play with in-app purchases. If you haven't already, you can download it for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
